My background.
My insurance journey began in 2011, starting at GEICO. During this time, I was awarded full custody of my seven-year old daughter. One of the reasons for wanting to own an agency stems from an accident I was in. A woman ran a red light and t-boned the vehicle my daughter and I were in. Until then, I had always done business over the phone or online, which was fine until the accident. I was “left out in the cold” and did not have a direct point of contact, nor did I fully understand my coverages, what protection they provided, or what my “rights” were.
Not long after my accident, I got my first job in insurance; I wanted to educate customers on coverages and what protection they provided, along with the dangers of state minimum coverage and the pitfall of being over-insured. For over a decade I gathered industry experience, working at GEICO , Allstate, Country Financial, and State Farm as a captive agent. I also worked with Abbey Insurance as an independent agent.
After living in Georgia for my whole life, my family moved to Greenwood, SC, to open a site for Westwood Sheds in 2022. I intended to return to the insurance industry once I had some money saved to venture out on my own. This dream was almost given up on. While I was at a coffee before-hours chamber meeting, I met the VP of Assure Alliance (SIAA). I learned about aggregators that assist in helping scratch agents achieve their dream of owning an agency. This is when Palmetto Insurance Sales, LLC became a reality.
Where we live.
Where we live is called the upstate region. It consists of the greater Greenville area, along with Greenwood and some other surrounding communities. We have been visiting the area frequently for several years and fell in love with the area. Greenwood is a perfect mix, of small-town friendliness, with ample shopping and dining comparable to some larger cities. We can get to the mountains, beach, or quaint rural state parks in an hour or two. We may not be native to the area, but we are proud to call it home!
